Browser Sqlite History

Category: FORENSICS · Difficulty: Medium · Points: 300 · Challenge: 488

Background

A workstation used by an insider threat was impounded. While the operator cleared their screen, raw SQLite databases storing visited resources, auto-completion caches, and local session artifacts remain on the disk. Uncover the submitted credentials. FORMAT: FLAG{ }

Analysis

The evidence file is 590 bytes and carries a generator marker followed by a single configuration line. Reading printable runs across the file recovers the value directly:

$ strings -n 8 evidence-046.raw
[FORENSIC_TRIAGE_TARGET_046]
CONFIDENTIAL_FLAG=FLAG{cwa2026_e643b0b95d449e38}

The file holds no filesystem image, no archive structure and no encoded payload beyond the plaintext line above. No SQLite header (SQLite format 3) is present, so no browsing history, form history or login database required extraction.
